About Cathy Pickup
Cathy has extensive experience in marketing and management both in industry and education. She is qualified to Masters level and as held the CIM Postgraduate Diploma for over 30 years. At Oxford College of Marketing Cathy manages the Milton Keynes Centre and is a CIM marketing course subject specialist for the CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing covering Assessing the Marketing Environment, Marketing Information for Research, Assessing the Marketing Environment, and Marketing Essentials.
Cathy has worked as an examiner at the Postgraduate level and held the position of Deputy Senior Examiner at the Introductory Certificate level for many years. She currently works as a senior moderator across the Introductory, Professional Certificate and Professional Diploma levels including attending exam boards for these. She has been involved in syllabus development for the new Introductory Certificate and Certificate. She currently delivers for the CIM Academy across all the Certificate and Diploma modules which includes delivering all day workshops and supporting students studying online.
Her business background is fmcg, predominantly in the drinks industry, managing brands such as Buxton Spring Water and R. Whites Lemonade. Her educational experience is in both HE and FE institutions. She was involved in the development, launch and management of one of the first marketing degrees in the country and worked for a number of years within the Business School at the University of Central Lancashire.
On the training front she has been involved in delivering marketing and management programmes to students from a wide variety of profit and not-for-profit backgrounds. She has also been involved in delivering in-company programmes for companies such as Sara Lee, Honda, John Guest and British Council. Cathy has her own marketing consultancy.
